Glory be to God! Our Youth Group has gone from 8 to 21 members in the last month and for that alone we can give praises to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. These young ladies and young men are willing to give up their Friday nights to come hear what God has in store for them. Sure they could go out with their “friends” and hoot and holler but instead they choose to come hang out and get into God’s word. How amazing is that? Tell me God isn’t good. Johnny and I have been asked by Pastor Steve to take the reigns of the Youth Group and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first. I was afraid they would get tired of seeing us after a while. You see, Johnny teaches the Royal Rangers and I teach the Mpact Girls on Wednesday nights. Most of our youth attend these very same classes. However, we have found they enjoy spending as much time with us as we do with them. They have become more like family then students. We are so excited to see what the Lord has in store for the youth.

Johnny and I decided to take the Youth Group into a different direction. Not to say the direction they were going wasn’t good but everyone has a different teaching style. So we decided to start a Youth Softball Team, something where they could get outside of the classroom and learn about teamwork, unity, etc. We pick one Friday of the month to meet at the Franklinton Park for a game. Yea, sure, we don’t have all the gear we need, but let me tell you, no one seems to mind it when they hit that ball straight out into the field and try to bring in that one run that will win the game. We have a blast!

Let’s not forget to mention the wonderful fellowship that we have with one another in our studies. We don’t just sit around and listen to the word; we get involved by acting it out. “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with they might..” Ecclesiastes 9:10

We are currently studying “Faith.” How can we so easily put our faith into automobiles, airplanes, elevators, etc. without even knowing the person or persons who built them? Doesn’t that require faith that those individuals have mastered their skills to get us to our destination safely? Are these strangers whom we’ve never seen or met before really trustworthy of putting our lives on the line for everyday? So why is it so hard for us to put our faith in God that He will guide and direct us? We must learn to trust and have faith in Him to get us to our destination safely. God is our one true God who will never hurt us or lead us astray. “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly." 1 Chronicles 28:20

Remember to keep us in your prayers and if you would like more information on our Youth Group please call us at (919) 494-2962 or email youth@nbcogop.net.
